To find the .lck files in OS X you will need to look inside the VMWare package.
Now, power up VMWare and you should see a new screen that shows your virtual machine is unlocked and either “Powered Off” (as mine shows below) or “Suspended” – in either Deleting (or, if you're paranoid like me, moving to a new location) all of these lock files allowed the VM to reboot.
